About: Mike's Field Notes
Technical Insight. Visual Observation.
Mike's Field Notes is an independent technical journal and digital field guide launched in April 2026 by Mike Ranweiler.
After decades leading technology and operations in the broadcast industry, this project represents a 15-year "second act" dedicated to exploring the intersection of the technical and the natural worlds. Whether it’s tracking a summer thunderstorm through high-res satellite data, reaching across the globe as KC0EVP, or documenting a morning paddleboard session on a mirror-still lake, these notes are about finding the "signal" in a noisy world.
